#michaelbarnaart #huisbarnaart #m...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the exceptional hospitality and the stunning, well-preserved Empire-style interiors of Museum Huis Barnaart. The knowledgeable and friendly volunteers, along with the complimentary refreshments, create a warm and memorable experience that transports guests back to the 19th century.

"Super lovely and nice ladies as hosts☺️ This is a large “party house” in the early 1800s and had extravagant reception rooms for guests, and now we can experience the same in these rooms. A free coffee or tea is served by the ladies at the end and we happened to have a visitor who is professional Italian opera singer and gives amazing performance at the house. I also got the chance to talk to one of the ladies, who welcomes me warmly, and we exchanged our recommendations for travel destinations on earth☺️ great experiences and highly recommend everyone to visit"

Museum Huis Barnaart boasts the most well-preserved Empire-style interior in the Netherlands. This style, popular in the early 19th century, is characterized by its neoclassical influences, often drawing inspiration from ancient Egypt and Rome. Think clean lines, rich mahogany, gilded accents, and motifs like eagles, laurel wreaths, and sphinxes. The house was designed by Abraham van der Hart for Willem Philip Barnaart, one of Haarlem's wealthiest citizens at the time, who wanted a residence that reflected his status and taste for the fashionable Empire aesthetic. Instagram

The restoration efforts by Vereniging Hendrick de Keyser have meticulously brought these interiors back to their former glory.
