What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
MacBike at Central Station offers a convenient location for bike rentals, with some users praising the friendly staff and good value. However, mixed reviews exist regarding bike maintenance, with some experiencing issues with brakes and overall bike quality. The deposit requirement and perceived 'sketchy' staff behavior have also been noted by a few visitors.
"Really good service and value for price. Quick service. Bikes were nice and confortables with double locker. They were so nice hat we could leave our luggage there while cycling. Amsterdam really worth a bicycle tour even if it can be sporty"

"Me and my two friends wanted to hire bikes to cycle to Zaanse Schans to see the windmills. This place had good reviews and it was easy to access with it being in the station. However the service was extremely disappointing. We were told we had to pay a €150 deposit and hand over a passport to secure the bikes, which we said no to. The guy said he would let us off and he took debit card details instead (I thought that was a red flag).
The bikes were really heavy and the brakes didn't work whatsoever.
We followed a 1 hour cycle route which ended up taking over 2 hours despite us being very competent cyclists - it felt like the bikes were speed restricted as no matter how hard we peddled we were going nowhere. Because of this, we didn't get back in time before the shop closed so we had to park the bikes up overnight and return in the morning. We ended up paying €17.50 each for 24hrs (3hrs was €13.50) which isn't super expensive but considering the bikes were awful quality, it was not worth the pain and effort. Do not recommend this rental place whatsoever. The staff member was very sketchy and rude."

"The woman running the place was super helpful, and very polite and friendly. We used the Iamsterdam card, so the rental price is part of the card.. not sure what it would have cost without it.
The bikes had 3 speeds which is nice, the brakes worked, which is even nicer. No complaints from us."
