What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Amsterdam Canal Ring for its breathtaking beauty, historical charm, and unique atmosphere. The picturesque canals, gabled houses, and UNESCO World Heritage status create an unforgettable experience. While some find canal cruises can be crowded, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many recommending it as a must-visit destination.
"We had the pleasure of working with Maurice and his team to create both our engagement and wedding bands, and the experience was truly exceptional. From the start, he listened attentively, was honest and clear, and explained exactly what he could and couldn’t do, which made every decision and step of the process easy to follow.
His craftsmanship as a goldsmith is beyond excellent. The rings he delivered not only met our expectations but went far beyond. When he presented the final pieces, he enjoyed the moment as much as we did, showing how deeply he cares about his work.
His approach, attention to detail, and the rings themselves made our journey even more memorable and meaningful. At the end, his friendly words of wisdom perfectly reflected the care and dedication he puts into both his clients and his craft.
Thank you, Maurice, and your wonderful staff, for making our rings, and our memories, truly extraordinary!"

"I visited this jewellery shop to ask if they could electroplate my mother’s earrings because the gold colour had developed some dark spots. Instead of properly inspecting the earrings, the man in the shop immediately said, “If the colour changes, it means it’s not real gold,” without even touching them or checking for an authenticity stamp with a magnifying glass.
He kept holding the door open as if he was waiting for me to leave, which felt very dismissive and rude. Any knowledgeable jeweller would know that gold can develop surface oxidation or discoloration under certain conditions.
Very unprofessional and arrogant behaviour. I would not recommend this shop."

"Bought our wedding rings here back in June! My husband had his customized since it was a platinum band with diamonds. They were very accommodating and patient with us. They even helped us with the customs when the ring arrived in our country. Thank you Maurice and your team for making sure we get the exact rings we wanted ❤️"

The History and Significance of the Canal Ring
This architectural marvel not only shaped Amsterdam's physical form but also its identity. The canals were crucial for the city's economic prosperity, allowing goods to be easily transported to and from merchant houses. Today, the Canal Ring remains a vibrant part of Amsterdam, preserving its historical character while serving as a bustling hub for residents and tourists alike. Its inclusion on the UNESCO list in 2010 recognized its outstanding universal value and its exceptional preservation.
Exploring the Canal Ring offers a journey back in time. Whether you're admiring the architecture from a boat, cycling along its paths, or simply strolling its charming streets, the historical significance is palpable. The area is a living museum, showcasing centuries of Dutch history, culture, and architectural innovation.
Experiencing the Canals: Cruises vs. Cycling
Cycling, on the other hand, offers a more immersive and active way to explore. Renting a bike allows you to navigate the narrow streets and discover hidden gems at your own pace. However, it requires a certain level of confidence as Amsterdam is a busy cycling city with its own set of rules and etiquette. Be mindful of tram tracks, other cyclists, and pedestrians.
Ultimately, the best approach might be a combination of both. A canal cruise provides a comprehensive overview and historical context, while cycling allows for deeper exploration and a more personal connection with the city's atmosphere. Whichever you choose, be prepared for stunning views and a unique urban landscape.
