What Travellers Say

Visitors consistently praise Kasteel Amerongen for its beautiful architecture, well-maintained gardens, and the exceptional quality of its guided tours. The unique approach of having a dedicated guide for each room is frequently highlighted as a major positive, offering deep historical insights. While the castle itself is not overly large, the overall experience, including the gardens and restaurant, is highly satisfying.
"Beautiful castle with interesting history. In all rooms there is guide that share history about place, also in English."
Dmitrij Demciuk
"Absolutely loved this charming castle and adjourning garden. We were originally there for the "Rose Days" but with Dutch rainy weather, we ended up heading quickly indoors to explore the castle instead. A tour there begins with a short film show casing the history of the castle in Dutch but with English subtitles. Then you take a tour around the place. The tour around the castle has a very peculiar approach. Each room visited had a separate tour guide who knew in depth the history of the room. This is definitely a high point for the castle. To enter, you must pre book as it is not too large. With a museum card, you only pay a little extra of approximately €4 to enter. The surrounding gardens were also a delight to walk around once the rain had let down. The rose arrangements for the "Rose Days" celebrations was the icing on the cake. I can imagine how charming it would be on a sunny day.
If you're in the Utrecht-
Zeist area, this is a cool place to check out on a day trip (or if you're just a wanderer like me lol). It's not the easiest to reach by public transport but definitely doable. We took bus 50 from platform C4 at Utrecht Central, and after about an hours ride and 38 stops, the castle can be reached in a 7 minute walk. Highly recommend!"

"A beautiful castle near the river. Both exterior, interior and the extensive gardens are worth a visit. And, as a bonus they have an excellent restaurant in the converted horse stables ."
