"The cathedral is lovely, a quiet oasis of prayer in Tanger. Mass is Monday-Friday at 18:30.
The Italian priest was charming, too. 🙏
Don't engage with the Moroccan local beggars. They will try to scam you and then insult your religion. She had no shame, and when I finally told her to leave me alone to pray in peace, she was rude. Her name is ‘Amina’, early 50s. Avoid her! I was also helpful with some young Moroccan boys, explaining to them that Mass is finished and they should come tomorrow; again, noticing I speak Arabic, they started to ask weird questions about how come there are Arab Christians and then made fun of our beliefs."

"This is the largest Roman Catholic Church, or Cathedral, in Tangier, Morocco, located not far from Place de Koweit or "Iberia".
I have walked by this place many times but only went inside one time, for an American friend's funeral service before he was buried at Boubana Cemetery.
The building is not particularly attractive on the outside, partly because it's constructed of concrete and has no detail whatsoever. The inside is large and can easily hold over 500 people, probably more like 2,000.
At any rate, it is a landmark building in Tangier because of its size, but it is really not much to look at architecturally. The nearby Mohammed V Mosque remains the tallest structure in Tangier, and both buildings are visible from your ferry boat as you approach the Port of Tanger Ville."

Architectural Significance
However, the interior reveals the true artistic merit of the building. The apse is adorned with striking stained-glass windows created by the Alicante artist Arcadio Blasco. Beyond its role in regular worship, the cathedral has also been a venue for significant life events, such as funeral services. The remains of Father José María Lerchundi, a missionary who dedicated over thirty years to Morocco, are interred in an underground crypt beneath the church, adding a layer of historical reverence.
