Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Museo Arqueológico Costa Grande to be an informative and clean museum offering a glimpse into the region's past at a very low cost. While exhibits are in Spanish, many appreciate the cultural insights and the museum's convenient location. Some note that facilities can be compact and recommend checking for temporary closures due to renovations.

"Newer museum showcasing nearby archaeological find. I suggest taking a tour of this with Luis de la Maza. He picks you up at your hotel in an air conditioned van. No driving needed on back country roads! He is an excellent English speaking Zihuatanejo native and explains the history and interprets all of the Spanish information display panels- as they are only in Spanish. After the museum and ruins, on his tour you have a chance to visit a nearby villager’s home with a typical kitchen, tile floor and garden. He then takes you on a boat trip on a lovely mangrove lined lagoon to see pelicans, frigates and other native birds. Finally a lovely lunch under a shady palm frond covered patio. I had the garlic shrimp! Excellent food, no worries about food prep, super clean and fresh!!"

"Very informative and clean! It's all in Spanish so bring a translator or Google lens if you can. The bathrooms are a little small so user beware. I had to fight off a crocodile to use the men's rooms but it was an easy fight GG no RE."

"Great museum a number of interesting artifacts I really enjoyed visiting at 10 pesos to enter"
