"Nice little place to hang out and know more about the local flora from the state, very interesting, not that long"

"Lots of really cool plants to see and it only contains ones that are native to the region. Just wish the info signs had English translations, either next to the Spanish signs or as a handout you can borrow. Also the plants are left to grow naturally which means across the paths with minimal intervention. So if you have mobility issues you might not be able to go down every path. And most importantly BRING BUG SPRAY!"
Sarah Kostelac
"INice place to wander and free of charge, even though its the wildest, most untouched botanical garden ive ever seen."

The Wild Charm of Faustino Miranda
This natural approach means the exhibits might appear less structured, with sections like the 'African' and 'Chiapan jungle' areas feeling like naturally thinned patches of forest. However, this is precisely what makes it special for those seeking an authentic encounter with the region's plant life. The garden thrives due to Tuxtla's equatorial climate, requiring less artificial maintenance than gardens in other regions.
While the garden's wildness is a key feature, it's important to be prepared. Visitors are strongly advised to bring bug spray due to the presence of mosquitoes. The natural paths can also be uneven, so comfortable footwear is essential for exploring. Despite these considerations, the experience is highly rewarding for nature lovers and those seeking a serene environment.
A Living Library of Chiapan Flora
Beyond its role as an exhibition space, the garden is also involved in conservation efforts. Recent initiatives include participating in reforestation drives and distributing native plants to the community, highlighting its commitment to environmental stewardship.
For those interested in botany or simply curious about the local flora, the garden provides an enriching experience. The information presented, though primarily in Spanish, offers valuable insights into the plant life of the region. It's a testament to the dedication of its staff and the natural wealth of Chiapas.
