What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mercado Hidalgo is a highly recommended destination, praised for its immense variety of goods, from fresh produce and spices to traditional sweets and crafts. Visitors appreciate the lively atmosphere and the opportunity to experience authentic Mexican culture. While some find certain craft prices high, the overall value and the delicious, affordable food options make it a must-visit.
"I enjoy coming to this mercado, because You can find anything and I mean anything. Every time I go here, I buy myself some fresh fruit and then walk around and purchase the items I go for. Great place to go and have a good time. There is food, piñatas, candy, artesania, fresh fruits, vegetables, and paid parking (make site you pay beforeheading to the exit), and it's very safe."

"Love stopping here for shopping, fresh juice and some tacos while in TJ. Parking is reasonable and prices over all not bad. Not the cheapest in TJ, but having all the options in once place is nice.
Pro tip: have pesos ready for prepaid parking at kiosks. Once by restrooms and one near north entrance. Maybe more, but only two I’m familiar with. Multiple exits for prepaid tickets, but only one if you don’t have exact change."

"Quite a large market! It's definitely more of a veggies/fruits/food staple market than a craft and shops market. Tons of nuts, spices, fruits and veg.
The prices were high. $17 CAD for 2 scoops of brazililian nuts, $29 CAD for a throw blanket.
No bathrooms tho, bad for emergency IBS stuff lol."
