What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Loreto Bay Golf Course are highly polarized. While some praise recent improvements and the stunning scenery, many others criticize the poor course conditions, high prices, and subpar customer service, often recommending the nearby TPC Danzante Bay as a superior alternative.
"Disappointing Experience at Loreto Bay Golf Course
My recent visit to Loreto Bay Golf Course was a complete letdown. The course was in bad shape, with patchy greens and unkempt fairways that made it feel more like a neglected backyard than a proper golf course.
To make matters worse, the prices were astronomical. We could have easily played at much nicer courses with similar views for around the same price. The only redeeming quality was the scenery, but even that couldn't salvage the experience.
Customer service was another sore point. The staff were unhelpful and seemed indifferent to our concerns. They were incredibly unaccommodating when we asked about the poor condition of the course and astonishing prices, showing a blatant disregard for customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against wasting your time and money at Loreto Bay Golf Course. Save yourself the disappointment and find a course that values its customers and maintains its facilities properly. Two stars only because of the decent views—everything else fell far short of expectations."

"A cow pasture that's worth $40 USD at most, not $164. I declined to play.
No service and run down facilities. I'd be very concerned if I owned a property here. This place's time as a going concern is clearly limited."

"Might have been one of the worst courses I’ve ever played, and that’s saying something. The cart rental was outrageous and the cart barely even worked. I didn’t travel with clubs. Most of the clubs they gave me were junior clubs with the exception of the 3 and 7. Not a matching club in the set. Also cost way too much. TPC danzante is right down the street and it’s incredible. Go there instead. Don’t listen to the staff here when they say you have to stay at danzante to play there. It’s just not true, and I think they say it to try and keep people here. Extremely disappointing to pay almost $200 to play such a garbage course.
Just to be fair. There are a couple of holes that are extremely beautiful. You can just walk them from the resort though. Not worth paying to play."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids

The Rees Jones Design Philosophy
The multi-themed 18-hole course spans 7,237 yards with a par of 72, presenting a formidable challenge with its rating of 74.5 and slope of 153. Each hole is designed to be memorable, incorporating the unique topography of the Baja Peninsula. Players can expect a dynamic round that requires thoughtful shot-making and an appreciation for the spectacular natural beauty that surrounds the course.
While the design is lauded, it's important to note that the course's challenging nature and premium pricing are key considerations for visitors. Comparing it to other high-caliber courses in the region, like the nearby TPC Danzante Bay, is often recommended by seasoned golfers.
Navigating Course Conditions and Value
This inconsistency in course maintenance has led to significant debate about the value proposition. With green fees reported as high as $164 USD and expensive cart rentals, many visitors feel the course does not justify its cost, especially when compared to the nearby TPC Danzante Bay, which is often cited as a superior option for a similar or slightly higher price.
For potential visitors, it's crucial to manage expectations. If you prioritize pristine conditions and top-tier amenities, it might be wise to thoroughly research the current state of the course or opt for alternatives. However, if the stunning coastal scenery is your primary draw and you can find a favorable rate, it might still offer a unique experience, albeit with potential compromises on course quality.
The Loreto Golf Experience: Beyond the Fairways
Beyond the golf courses, the area is renowned for its natural beauty. Loreto Bay National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a haven for marine life, offering opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and whale watching (seasonally). The dramatic desert landscapes meeting the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortez create a visually stunning environment that complements the golf experience.
When planning a golf trip to Loreto, consider incorporating these elements. Many visitors find that the combination of challenging golf, breathtaking scenery, and the authentic charm of Loreto creates a memorable and well-rounded vacation.
