Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Kinichná's remote jungle setting and the unique opportunity to climb its massive, accessible pyramids. Many appreciate the lack of crowds, allowing for a peaceful and immersive experience. While entry fees can be a point of confusion with potential checkpoint charges, the overall sentiment is that it's a worthwhile visit for its grandeur and tranquility.

"While we were visiting we were almost alone. The site is in the woods so the sun was not as big of a problem. The buildings are restored nicely and you can also climb most of them.

As other reports mentioned entry is 80$ officially and 60$ per person plus 50$ flat fee for the car at a local checkpoint at the start of the street. Not 100% sure if this checkpoint is legal though. The drive from Bacalar is approximately 1hour 10 minutes. The last stretch of road was recently redone and is really easy to drive. No more potholes for half an hour as other reviews suggest. (See photo)"

"Located about two kilometers from the Dzibanche ruins this site is a lot smaller, in fact it consists of just one pyramidal structure that is open to the public. But, the pyramid is huge! larger and taller than any uncovered at Dzibanche, and totally accessible so you can climb it! Not very many tourists visit this site so its likely that you'll have the place to yourself."

Bobby C

"Beautiful remote ruins that are open! We were there on Jan. 1. Two amazing sites for the price of one. Some of our favorites. Make sure to look up so you don't miss the monkeys!"
