What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Lunaria Planetarium offers an engaging experience with its immersive dome shows and interactive exhibits, making it a popular family destination in Guadalajara. While many appreciate the educational value and the visual spectacle, some visitors have noted issues with exhibit availability and a strong emphasis on environmental themes over pure astronomy. The lack of extensive food options and occasional inconsistencies in the visitor experience are points for improvement.
"Visited during the pandemic. I would have saved my money. They don't let children under the age of 6 in. The have an area outside for young children, however it feels more like a consultation camp. It's in the heat and for the two hour tour inside little children are tortured outside. If you're inside they have all the cool virtual reality stuff not in use. They have the two hour tour planned down to the minute and it's not very fun for children. The IMAX was very good! Probably the best part. They spend 30 minutes talking about plants and animals....not really what I go to a planetarium for. They did do a cool thing with launching paper rockets. All in all, wait till the pandemic is over and they're not doing a guided tour with all the fun stuff closed and small children treated like refugees."

"Not sure where to start. I loved the actual show with the huge screen, outside of that, no food court area, I was so thirsty. I understand the whole “taking care of the planetarium” part, however, maybe it’d work if they add a restaurant outside and just not letting people access the HQ with food?, there’s plenty of space in my opinion. I only saw 2 vending machines out of which only one was working (beverages, except for water), which by the way, are almost hidden.
There’s really not much to see, many of the attractions were unavailable and they make it seem that it’s mainly for kids (saw too many of them jumping around and being noisy).
There’s a huge line to get into the show area that blocks the exits and limits your navigation inside, fix that. Don’t get me wrong, I still think this is a good place to go visit with your family, but it has a lot of work to be done.
Overall the price is good for what they have to offer. Would I go again? Absolutely. The outside area is very peaceful."

"I did enjoy the planetarium , but there were about four exhibits that were not open to the public today. 🥲"

The Planetarium Dome Experience
To make the most of your dome experience, it's crucial to arrive on time and ensure your mobile devices are completely silenced and put away, as per the rules. Checking the daily schedule in advance is also key, as different projections are offered on different days. While the visual spectacle is a major draw, managing expectations regarding the specific content focus will help ensure a more satisfying visit.
Interactive Exhibits and Learning
However, a recurring theme in visitor feedback is the inconsistency in exhibit functionality. Several reviews mention that a significant number of exhibits were either broken or unavailable during their visits. This can be a point of frustration, especially when expecting a fully operational interactive center. When the exhibits are working, they are praised for their scientific and technological aspects. It's advisable to inquire about the status of exhibits upon arrival or focus on the planetarium shows and other available attractions if some interactive elements are out of order.
Family Visits and Kid-Friendly Aspects
Despite this, some visitor experiences suggest that the planetarium might not be as universally kid-friendly as advertised. Concerns have been raised about the suitability of certain tours for very young children, with one review mentioning that children under six were not allowed in certain areas and had to stay outside in the heat. Additionally, the structured nature of guided tours and the potential unavailability of exhibits can impact the overall enjoyment for kids. While the outdoor area is described as peaceful, it's recommended for parents to check specific age recommendations for shows and exhibits and to be prepared for a potentially less structured experience than anticipated.
