What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Bruma Winery offers a visually stunning experience with acclaimed dining at Fauna and luxurious accommodations. However, guests have noted significant issues with connectivity, limited essential amenities like water, and inconsistent service, leading to a mixed perception of its premium offering.
"Our stay at this hotel was deeply disappointing. Though it markets itself as a premium destination in Valle de Guadalupe, it fails to deliver even the most basic hospitality standards expected at this price point.
There is no WiFi anywhere on the property, and no phones in the rooms to contact the front desk. If you need anything—no matter how urgent—you must physically walk to the lobby. This lack of connectivity and internal communication is completely unacceptable in a modern hotel.
Water access is severely limited. You receive one small complimentary bottle of water per room. Once that’s gone, there’s no way to get more unless you leave the property. All services close early, and there are no vending machines or room service available afterward. Worse, a single 350ml bottle of water is sold for 100 pesos (around $5 USD)—a blatantly inflated price for something so essential.
Room amenities are misleadingly advertised. The website lists several features that appear to be standard, yet our room lacked basic things like a mini fridge. When we asked, staff said “not all rooms have one,” but this was never mentioned when booking. Even more concerning, the in-room toiletries were inadequate and confusingly labeled—a shampoo bottle filled with conditioner, no lotion, no soap bar, and not even toothpaste, which is shocking for a hotel that claims to be high-end.
Noise was a major issue. Every morning we were woken up by loud music coming from the restaurant. There is zero soundproofing and no apparent consideration for guests trying to rest.
There is no on-site transportation, even though many hotel facilities (restaurants, pools, etc.) are up to a 20-minute walk from the rooms. The walk is fully exposed to the sun, with no trees or shade—uncomfortable and tiring, especially in hot weather. For a hotel of this scale, the absence of transport options is unacceptable.
Service is limited to restricted hours, with no support available afterward. The hotel is located in a remote area of Valle de Guadalupe, with no nearby town and several miles between properties. Fortunately, we had rented a car and were able to drive 10 minutes to a convenience store. But not every guest plans to rent a vehicle, and the hotel should know this. At the very least, a vending machine would be a simple, effective solution.
Staff behavior was another major disappointment. With two exceptions, most staff members were dismissive, unhelpful, and in some cases, outright rude. One particularly frustrating example: we requested a refund for two bottles of wine we did not consume. Initially, we were told refunds were “not possible.” Later, the same staff member admitted that a refund could be requested but would take a long time and might not be successful. This contradiction was dishonest and unprofessional. A hotel in this price range should have clear, functional systems for simple transactions like returns.

Final verdict:
This hotel is not ready to deliver the premium experience it advertises. From the lack of connectivity and basic amenities to poor service and unreasonable pricing, nearly every part of our stay was frustrating. I would not recommend this property to anyone looking for comfort, reliability, or honest service."

"Beware of their cancellation fee. I booked a 3 night stay for July through Hotels.com but I ended up canceling after 16 hours after booking it. I was charged a cancellation fee by this hotel for 1st night fee of $783.25. I think this is highway robbery and unfair business practice. Not even 24 hours after booking and they flat out refused to reverse the charged amount. This is now being investigated by my credit card company and online hotline mediation."

"We had a fabulous stay at Bruma Wine Resort! Our experience started with a wonderful tour of the winery, where Paula guided us through an incredible tasting of their wines. Afterward, we checked into our room and were delighted to receive complimentary wine vouchers. The highlight of our dining experience was at Fauna—truly one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The next day, we enjoyed brunch and lunch at The Wine Garden, which was equally amazing. The entire area is stunning, with plenty of fun things to do, making it a perfect getaway.
There are just a few areas where we feel the experience could improve. Unfortunately, our room didn’t have hot water, so we ended up taking a cold shower. Also, the room lacked a full-length mirror, which would have been helpful. Finally, while we had hoped to walk between the hotel, winery, and Fauna, the distances were a bit too far, and no transportation was provided by the hotel. It would be great if they offered bikes or golf carts to make it easier to explore the property.
Despite these small issues, we had an unforgettable time and can’t wait to come back!"
