Playa Palancar offers a beautiful beach with clear waters and good amenities, though some visitors have encountered issues with unexpected charges and inflated prices at the beach club. "Playa Palancar Review – 9/10 Experience
Visiting Playa Palancar was one of the highlights of our cruise stop. It’s about a 30 minute taxi ride from the cruise terminal. While the local taxi rate is $70, I managed to negotiate it down to $40 but other drivers offered $50, just be aware that the return trip is a fixed $70 with no wiggle room.
Entry to the beach is $20 per person, which includes a lounge chair, umbrella, and WiFi. The beach itself is clean, cozy, and not overcrowded. The water was crystal clear, warm, and just absolutely perfect like something out of a postcard.
We did a snorkeling excursion for $45 per person. It included three 20 minute stops, but honestly, there weren’t many fish to see. Still, the kids enjoyed the adventure.
Our waiter, Antonio, was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ordered margaritas, which were fantastic, and a spread of nachos, beef tacos, shrimp quesadillas, and guacamole solid 9/10 across the board.
Overall, Playa Palancar is a great choice for cruise passengers looking for a relaxing beach day. Clean water, good food, and great service made it a memorable experience. I’d rate the day an 9 out of 10 and would definitely return. Don’t hesitate just go!"

"Friendly people, nice clean beach, good food, we had a great time and experience here 👍🏻 We rented a car and drove all around the island and unfortunately there were a lot of sargassum in the north so we decided to stop here and it was the best decision. Highly recommend their snorkeling tour, you’re super close to the reefs and it’s not overcrowded, had a great time and nice pictures after, thanks to photographer. Paid $20 each to enter with umbrella and chairs included, tour was around $40, food ~1000 peso (cocktails, guacamole, nachos) parking was free. Will definitely come back!"

"Gorgeous place but we paid $80 to get into restaurant for 2 adults and 2 kids, how ridiculous this sounds.
They should charge for lounge chairs and umbrellas. We ordered food and drinks and coronas so they should deduct something from our bill. We were there in 2019 and back then no entry fee and we also sat at a table and ordered food. We were very disappointed that they charge now to eat at their table, they don't own the ocean. So as beautiful this place is it was our last. Royal Caribbean is moving in next door with their all inclusive beach club!! Watch out as the all inclusive will be better value I heard."
