What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Santuario del Señor de Chalma to be a uniquely spiritual and humbling place, offering a sense of excitement and inclusion. The vibrant town with its numerous vendors and scenic views is a major draw. However, some guests note issues with street cleanliness and the potential for crowded conditions, even on weekdays.
"I have been to many holy sites in the US, Mexico, and Italy and this is a unique place. There’s a sense of excitement, inclusion, and being humbled in this place. Even on a weekday there are a lot of people so bring cash for lunch and vendors, sunscreen, and come with time to spend. I recommend if possible buy items like rosaries prior to entering the church so you can have them on hand when the friars bless the people with holy water. Note that depending on where you park to enter there could be a lot of stairs. Unfortunately the parking offering the shortest walk and least amount of stairs will be closest to the packed busy town. Parking lots are not really marked well so be on the lookout."

"This area gets really packed with people, a lot of vendors. It’s a 20 minute walk from the parking area. 60-100 pesos for parking. The area vendors sell candies, food, anything you can think off. A waterfall is next to the church along with small water parks."
