Reviews Summary
Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is a highly-rated family resort, praised for its exceptional staff, warm pools, and extensive water park. While many guests rave about the service and kid-friendly activities, some reviews mention inconsistencies in food quality and maintenance issues. Despite minor drawbacks, the resort's commitment to guest experience, particularly through its Diamond Club, makes it a memorable destination for families.
"Royalton Splash Cancun – Family Stay (Dec 6–13, 2025)
We stayed as a family of four (3 adults, 1 child) in a Diamond Club swim-up room. Overall, we had a great vacation with some standout highlights and a few areas needing improvement.
The highlights:
• Excellent, warm pools (not cold like many Mexico resorts)
• Swim-up room was beautiful, clean, spacious, and perfect for kids
• Stunning ocean and resort views
• Outstanding customer service — truly the best we’ve experienced
• Diamond Club butlers were exceptional; special thanks to Jesus and Dulce, who handled reservations, room service, and personal requests quickly and professionally
• Room service was fast (via butler) and very good
• Great kids’ activities: water parks, lazy rivers, kids club, family nights, trampoline & climbing wall
• Mango margaritas and banana daiquiris were delicious (often made with real bananas)
Room & comfort:
Thoughtfully designed for families with a separate toilet, dual shower heads, nightly turndown service, and reliable hot water. Bring extra hangers if you have lots of clothes.
Diamond Pool Area:
Nice atmosphere with fruit skewers, drink service, mini massages, and cabanas available ($90 USD). Chairs fill up quickly and there are still many kids.
Beach:
We only went once. Water was rough, umbrellas couldn’t be opened due to wind, bar service was limited, and there was some litter. Water was murky from rain, so we returned to the pools.
Food (mixed):
• Buffet quality and replenishment were inconsistent; Diamond breakfast area was better
• Juices, coffee, and queso were disappointing
• Some good desserts (rice pudding, tres leches) and gelato
• Grazie was decent; Hunter’s Steakhouse and Score Sports Bar were below expectations
• Coffee shop lacked smoothies, ice, and proper plates/cutlery
• Unfortunately, my husband and others experienced food poisoning during the stay
Cons:
• Broken pool tiles (my daughter cut her foot, but staff responded quickly)
• Food quality inconsistency
• Arcade very small; card machine broken (cash only)
Final Thoughts:
Royalton Splash is a fantastic family resort, especially with the Diamond Club upgrade. While food and maintenance need improvement, the exceptional service, warm pools, and kids’ activities made this a memorable trip. We would consider returning, largely because of the outstanding staff."

"My dad booked 2 rooms (at the same time) for my parents and then myself and my 9yr old son. The rooms weren't together, or on same floor (they want you to pay to put rooms together) but what if it was 2 parents and two kids? - one booking should be together not an extra fee.
Service was great, but most drinks had a plastic taste, no wine or other alcoholic options in mini bar- only beer. If we all wanted to have a drink together had to get drinks from bar then go back to room.
$$$ to get to from Airport as there is nothing else around the hotel. Can't get buses, uber can't go to airport so they charge $70 usd for a 20 min ride. We asked about taxis on last day and were told there was a cheaper one but we had to book 3 days in advance- we weren't told this at check in or any other time. Sunscreen was $30 USD, it was thick white and for kids 4 yr my son is 9, it stained my bathing suit but they wouldn't exchange/ replace after 1 small use.
You are better to get an all inclusive on the main strip, with other shops, taxis and buses to bring external costs down.
Hotel its self was lovely but if your paying $5000 for 4 days, you'd expect that. Better to spend same money at a different location, likely get more value."

"I’ve noticed a lot of the positive reviews for this resort are regarding specific areas or service members of the resort. Reviews of the resort as a whole are getting buried it seems. & the ones with responses from the resort are very much so AI generated.
Cons:
-fiancé and i both got either food poisoning or stomach bug. medical staff took hours to respond to our requests for medicine or any type of medical attention. all the other cons on this list didn’t really bother me as much as this. reading other reviews from this week it seems like others have been sick too.
- food is just okay, very cafeteria-like. there’s a wide variety but not much of high quality
- definitely not for couples, not much privacy or quiet areas and a toooonnnnn of kids (our fault though for booking without realizing)
- hot tubs were the same temperature as the pool
- shower flooded half our room the first night
- absolutely bombarded by people trying to sell us stuff or upsell
- we were on the first floor, other guests were extremely loud until 1 am -2 am
- barking dogs in the middle of the night also, probably not the fault of the resort but the barking combined with the loud guests and screaming children was a little much to try and sleep through
- when we arrived we weren’t on “the list” so we had to wait on a line for a long time to check in so they could find our reservation. wasn’t the best way to start us off.
Pros
- staff was nice and tried to be accommodating. my fiancé and i enjoyed practicing our spanish with the friendly staff
- french restaurant was our favorite, food was pretty good and glass was never empty
- the photographers were so much fun, no pressure to go buy the photos but the hotel photographer and the beach photographer had us laughing and took some super nice shots of us
- shows and live music were entertaining, we unfortunately missed some of them due to being sick
- staff did call to check in on us the morning after we got sick which was nice
- room service was accurate for the most part and again very friendly
- we felt very safe walking around the resort"

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
The Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun Water Park Experience
Many visitors highlight the water park as the resort's standout feature, making it an ideal choice for a family vacation where keeping the kids entertained is a top priority. The sheer scale and variety of water attractions mean that days can be spent exploring and enjoying the aquatic fun without ever leaving the resort grounds.
While the water park is a huge plus, it's worth noting that it can get busy, especially during peak times. Arriving earlier in the day can help you make the most of the slides with fewer crowds. The presence of a separate kiddie pool is also a significant advantage for families with toddlers and babies.
Diamond Club: Elevating Your Stay
Diamond Club guests also gain access to a private pool area, which often features amenities like fruit skewers, drink service, and even mini massages. While chairs can fill up quickly, the atmosphere is generally more relaxed than the main pools. The butlers' efficiency and attentiveness are frequently praised, with guests highlighting their role in handling everything from dinner reservations to special requests promptly.
While the Diamond Club offers significant advantages, it's important to note that even this area can see a lot of children. The swim-up rooms, often associated with higher tiers, are also a popular choice for families, offering direct access to the water from their patio.
Dining and Potential Health Concerns
A significant concern raised by some guests is the occurrence of food poisoning or stomach bugs. Several reviews mention experiencing illness during their stay, with some noting that medical staff response times could be improved. This is a critical factor for potential visitors to consider, especially those with young children or compromised immune systems.
Despite these concerns, many guests still find enjoyable meals, particularly praising specific dishes like desserts and gelato. The availability of room service, especially when facilitated by Diamond Club butlers, is also a plus. However, the overall dining experience is a mixed bag, with a need for vigilance regarding food safety and consistency.
