"It is a gorgeous location with amazing pools and beaches. They turned down our bed every night, and the minibar was absolutely crammed with drinks and food. If the food was better and add-ons were cheaper, the stay would have been worth it.
Prepare to order multiple apps, entrees, and desserts just to find something good and filling. Anything they cook in front of you is going to be way better. Mexican food was not great. Ask around about pricing and availability for water sports/experiences, since we were given different quotes across the front desk and two beach stands. Spa is incredibly expensive for what you get and for what you have already spent. A $75 basic manicure (simple grooming, normal nail polish, short hand massage and scrub) on top of a $600 / night room is insane, especially since a fancy manicure with amenities at home is only $60. Going to a resort like this should have been a way to receive services like these for much cheaper than we would have gotten at home, especially since the food was so mediocre.
The staff are very kind and attentive and deserve all of the love, it is clearly a management issue more than anything else. Came for a wedding (hence the manicure) and it was beautiful. Even without many problems, the trip felt like kind of a let down."

Everyone you encounter, from the bellman to the bartenders and servers, is so kind, warm, and genuinely happy to help. Every greeting comes with a smile and a heartfelt “hola,” and the longer you’re there, the more you appreciate just how exceptional the people are.
We became especially close with a bartender, Julio, in the Finest Club Lounge after learning he has a son around the same age as ours. He works nearly every day of the year—including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day—and has been at this resort for almost 11 years. Despite the demanding schedule, he remains incredibly personable, friendly, and always full of joy. He is truly a gem, and we look forward to seeing him every time we visit.
If you’re hesitating to book a trip here, don’t. It’s a true piece of paradise."

"We were looking for a nice place for our daughter and us, and we read reviews of the Finest Playa hotel. The reviews were great, especially about food, but our experience wasn’t good at all! When we checked in, they told us we would be in building 2 and gave us a key, so we started looking for our room. We spent 20 minutes searching, and when we asked someone near the pool, they told us our room was in building 1, not building 2. Nobody even tried to show us where our building was or help us because we had never been there before. We had no idea where to go! The food was really bad. I was shocked when I tried the pasta and mac & cheese for kids—it tasted horrible. I have no idea why they just gave kids undercooked pasta with poor seasoning, then microwaved it, making it impossible for our daughter to eat. I even tasted it, and it was awful. The pizza in the Italian restaurant was like cardboard, I never tried so bad pizza. We were surprised that the Kitchen Market was closed for dinner, and our daughter couldn’t eat anything in the restaurants because the menu for kids and food were very bad. The service was okay, but all they kept telling us was to download the hotel app to find anything we needed. When we called the concierge, they never answered, and when asked how our vacation was, we told the truth. Of course, no one seemed to care about our experience when we couldn’t find our room for 20 minutes! The food was honestly only okay at the Kitchen Market because we could find something we liked, but even that wasn’t great. The food in the restaurants was really horrible. The steak we ordered was undercooked and overcooked at the same time—how is that possible? I’m sure the food in the restaurants was pre-cooked because everything tasted bad. The French fries were cold, and they didn’t even taste like French fries. If you’re looking for great food for your kids and yourself, this place is not it. The service was okay, but you’ll have to rely solely on the hotel app to find everything."
