"Just a warning for anyone planning to go to Coco Bongo Beach Party. Be careful. From my experience, they really tried to get extra money out of me. The manager I dealt with — the tall, bald guy — was super rude and disrespectful. The girls with the whistles kept pushing drinks on me and then tried to charge crazy prices. Management didn’t help at all.

If you go, watch your drinks, watch your tab, and don’t let anyone pressure you into anything you didn’t agree to."

for starters we had open bar and a table. we get to our table and they ask us 5 times if we want to upgrade and we kept declining. within minutes there was a shot girl at our table. okay whatever we do shots. after this she came by every 20 mins like CLOCKWORK. she forced shots on us many times. i said no so many times and she poured them anyways. SHE FORCE FED ME SHOTS WHILE I WAS COUGHING UP THE LIQUOR!!!! i explained to her that i was sick to my stomach the day before and she would try to force shots on me over and over. at one point she poured 27 shots at once and we kept telling her to stop pouring them and she didn’t until the whole bottle was gone. then she made us pay. she swindled us out of so much money. they guys at the table next to us said we bought them shots and she just believed them (WE DID NOT KNOW THEM) and she charged us for THEIR SHOTS AND SHE NEVER ASKED US IF WE BOUGHT THEM SHOTS. finally we leave after what has been a day ruined. my friend asks for one last free (open bar) drink, a long island. she says okay and doesn’t come back for 15 mins. my friend goes to find her and she said that at 7pm the open bar closes (there was no last call or mention of this at any point) my friend said okay i’ll just buy it, he pays 10 dollars and she said she would go get it. of course she disappears again. when we find her she said the bar was closed. we spoke to the manager, he was awful as all the reviews say.. my friend asked what he paid for if not a long island and he said we paid for shots with this ten dollars and so he refused to refund us. this place is a poor excuse of a beach “party” and is just a scam. it was dead when we went and i assume they’ll give up on it soon enough. STAY AWAY FROM ALL SHOT GIRLS ESPECIALLY WUIL!!! sorry wuil you were kind but it was obviously only so you could scam us. she was fake, with one hand on my arm and the other in my wallet. ridiculous. this place brings shame to the name coco bongo."

Do NOT go to coco bongo beach party unless you’re happy about being scammed. We booked our tickets (two females) through TUI which was around £15 including entry and 4 drinks each.

Upon entering, the place is extremely run down and very small. There are a lot of salespeople outside trying to sell you upgrades and wristbands even after we said we already purchased our tickets. A group of dressed up men promoting coco bongo demanded tips for a photo which we were made to do. I gave them the equivalent of £10 (200 pesos) and they were trying to get me to give more, they were angry when we walked away without giving more, so do not agree to the photos unless you want to get ripped off in tips.

When we went inside, the staff at the booth checking tickets took around 10 minutes to even issue our tickets and would not say what was wrong. They had hold of my friend’s phone and took photos of her ID and was sending it in a message to someone. It made us feel really wary and when questioning what they were doing they said something about their boss.

We went at 2pm on a Wednesday it was really dead, perhaps it gets busier in the evening but we did not want to stay to find out.

We sat down at an unreserved table - note that most tables are “reserved” so they are for purchasing VIP etc and only 4 deck chairs on the sand down the stairs to the beach from coco bongo. A shot lady came up to us wanting to play a game of naughts and crosses and basically said if we lost we pay for 3 shots each and if we won it’s free. We lost and assumed we’d be paying for 6 shots total, her sign clearly stated shots were 6 USD each but I ended up paying £56 assuming it covered me and my friend but then my friend was also made to pay the same. When I questioned it she gave us 3 more shots each but it still shouldn’t have cost nearly £120 between us for 12 shots…
This immediately killed the vibe for us and we just wanted to leave. We’d had 3 of our free drinks vouchers already so when one of the servers came by to take another drink order I handed him all 8 of our vouchers so we could have our last drink and leave. He then came by with 6 more drinks and when I questioned it I said I’d already given him all the vouchers for the 6 previous drinks we’d already had and he didn’t seem to understand. We drank 1 each as these were our 4 drinks each used up and left as it felt scammy like they were trying to get us to pay for the extra drinks we didn’t order. He also tried to sell me an open bar wristband and I declined it twice. We really didn’t want to drink much we mostly came for the vibe as we really enjoyed coco bongo in the Dominican Republic.

It also isn’t much of a “beach party” other than the fact you can access the beach from the back. This is a public beach which both tourists and locals can access and not exclusively coco bongo customers. It is a lovely beach but just be aware of your surroundings if you are a tourist.

In short, what you pay for is not really what you get. They will constantly harass you to try and spend more money. Multiple shot girls came up to us to try and force us to have more shots despite the pile of empty shot glasses we already had on our table.

We left after just over an hour. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend anyone to go here. If the staff didn’t constantly harass you to spend more money it would have been decent vibes as the music was good."
