What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
ADO buses are widely praised for their affordability, comfort, and punctuality, making them a top choice for intercity travel in the Yucatan. While the buses themselves receive high marks, some travelers have reported security concerns regarding luggage theft at the Cancun Airport terminal. Despite this, the overall experience with ADO for longer journeys is overwhelmingly positive.
"I booked through BusBud. It was super easy and cheap compared to other companies. The station it self was clean and had wifi. There was even a spot to charge the devices. The buses are comfortable and the ride is smooth."
Maria Yasnitsky
"There are people who target tourists at this bus station. While you are waiting to retrieve your luggage from the bus, they go into your bags and steal. The staff didn't do anything to help and they were aware of what was happening. They will tell you there is nothing they can do. I don't recommend using this station especially if you are a foreigner. The ones in Merida and Playa del Carmen are not as bad as this one. The bus is a comfortable and affordable ride but just avoid this station."

"Really good burgers and street vendors outside 😋"

Navigating from Cancun Airport with ADO
From the airport, ADO offers direct routes to the ADO downtown terminal (Terminal de Autobuses Cancún) and, more recently, a dedicated route to the Cancun Hotel Zone. This makes it a versatile option whether you're heading into the city center or directly to your resort. The journey to the downtown terminal usually takes around 30-45 minutes.
Pro-tip: While purchasing tickets at the terminal is an option, many travelers find it more efficient to buy tickets online or through the ADO app beforehand, especially if you want to guarantee a specific departure time or secure your seat.
Comfort and Amenities on ADO Buses
For extended trips, such as the 27-hour journey from Terminal Oriente to Cancun, these amenities become crucial. Some travelers have noted the cleanliness and even aesthetic appeal of the bathrooms on certain routes.
Beyond the basic comforts, some ADO buses and terminals offer Wi-Fi access and device charging stations, allowing you to stay connected and powered up during your travels.
Safety and Security at the Terminal
It's advisable to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on your belongings. If you encounter any issues, be aware that staff may not always be able to intervene directly, as noted by some affected travelers.
For other ADO terminals, such as those in Merida and Playa del Carmen, the security concerns appear to be less pronounced compared to the Cancun airport location. Nevertheless, general caution is always recommended when traveling.
