What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the stunning, dramatic scenery of Divorce Beach, especially the powerful Pacific waves and rugged cliffs. It's praised as a fantastic spot for photos, picnics, and watching sunsets, offering a wilder contrast to the calmer Lovers Beach. However, the strong, dangerous currents mean swimming is not an option, and access typically requires a water taxi.
"You cannot swim here!!! This beach has the most beautiful ocean views and the rocks are awesome!! This was a great place to lounge and listen to the crashing waves, watch the crabs shuffle about, climb around the rocks, and just sit and enjoy the scenery! You have to get a water taxi to the beach unless maybe you’re in the resort that’s closest and closed access - unsure about that. The views were unbelievable and there were people about but it wasn’t packed by any means."

"Pros: Great Picnic Spot with Sunset. Less trafficked with only 4 other people for sunset, beautiful cliffs beach and boat going by, and cool hiking
Cons -bugs a little annoying. The riptide is strong and unpredictable, not easy to access without boat"

The Tale of Two Beaches: Lovers and Divorce
In contrast, Divorce Beach faces the vast Pacific Ocean, and its name is well-earned. The powerful waves and strong undertows make it dangerous for swimming. Visitors are drawn to its wild, dramatic beauty, the thunderous sound of the waves, and the rugged cliffs that frame the shoreline. It's a place to admire nature's raw power rather than to swim.
Accessing both beaches is typically done via water taxi from Cabo San Lucas. You can often arrange a tour that stops at both, allowing you to experience the unique character of each. Some visitors choose to walk between the two beaches, navigating the rocky terrain, which adds to the adventure.
Safety First: Understanding Divorce Beach's Waters
While the allure of the crashing waves might be tempting, prioritizing safety is paramount. It's best to stay out of the water and enjoy the beach from the shore. You can still have an incredible experience by watching the waves, exploring the rocks (carefully!), and soaking in the dramatic coastal views. If you're looking for a place to swim, Lovers Beach is the designated safe spot.
Always heed local advice and any posted warnings. Water taxi operators are a good source of information regarding current conditions. If you're unsure about any aspect of safety, it's always better to err on the side of caution and enjoy the beach's beauty from a safe vantage point.
