What Travellers Say

Cabo Pulmo is lauded as a must-visit for its incredible marine biodiversity and healthy coral reefs, offering exceptional diving and snorkeling. Visitors appreciate the serene, off-grid atmosphere and the chance to see abundant wildlife, including whales and sea lions. However, some find the water cooler than expected and note the rocky beaches and limited amenities require preparation.
"This is likely the best place to dive near Cabo. Near as in about 2 hours away. Diving was good, but this is not the Caribbean. The water temperatures at depth averaged mid 60's for us. 7mm thick wetsuits and hoods recommended. Beautiful pelagic and reef fish were pretty abundant. Pictures say all the rest."

"Amazing beautiful must-see location! We went snorkelling with the Cabo Pulmo Sports Centre and had lunch at “Tacos and Beer” that we enjoyed! If you aren’t scared of a dirt road, go here! We saw 5 humpback whales, sea lions, the reefs and the beautiful beaches! Looks like people can camp in their RVs right there as well."
Jodie Perry
"Beautiful scenery and majestic waters await.
There were several places to scuba and snorkel the reefs. The prices seemed to be the same at most down by the water. $1300 pesos a person for a 2 hour snorkel tour.
Sea lions and tortuga were int he waters as well as whales during our visit. We were able to see whales from shore splashing in the waves. Unfortunately, we did not go out in the water as we visited on a very windy day.
There were a few restaurants available at the main NP entrance for boats."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
While the rocky beaches require supervision, the overall vibe is relaxed and welcoming. The limited amenities mean you'll need to pack snacks and drinks, but this also encourages family bonding over simple pleasures. Consider bringing water shoes for everyone to navigate the shore comfortably. The off-grid nature can also be a great way for kids to disconnect from screens and connect with the natural world.
💰 Budget Travelers
Be prepared for the cash-only preference of many businesses; this can sometimes lead to better negotiation opportunities if you have the exact change. Renting a car might be a significant upfront cost, but it offers the most flexibility. If traveling with others, splitting the car rental and accommodation costs can make the trip more affordable.
💑 Couples & Romantic Getaways
Consider booking a private snorkeling or diving tour for a more intimate experience. The off-grid nature of Cabo Pulmo encourages connection, with limited distractions allowing you to focus on each other and the breathtaking surroundings. Enjoying fresh seafood at a local palapa restaurant under the stars adds to the romantic charm.
