Reviews Summary

Visitors are consistently impressed by the monumental scale of the seated Buddha at Wat Machimmaram, often describing it as awe-inspiring and a must-see in Kelantan. The free admission and ample parking are appreciated, though some note the grounds are not as meticulously maintained as other temples and shade is limited. The unique detail of the golden lips adds a memorable quirk to the experience.

"As part of the Tumpat Thai Wat trail, Wat Machimmaram is a must stop.

As one of the region’s largest (30m in sitting height), the sitting Buddha statue was monumental! The sheer gaze of the Buddha radiating serenity across the vast grounds of peaceful gardens with smaller shrines, was truly inspiring.

Limited shades across the expansive grounds though. Best to have hats or umbrellas.

Free admission with ample parking on the temple ground.

"Wat Machimmaram is best known for its gigantic sitting Buddha statue, one of the largest in Southeast Asia. It’s definitely an impressive sight and worth a quick stop if you’re in the area. The temple grounds are fairly peaceful, though not as well maintained or vibrant as some other temples in the region.

There isn’t much else to see beyond the main statue, so don’t expect a full half-day visit. Parking is straightforward, and entrance is free, which makes it an easy detour. Overall, worth visiting once to admire the scale of the Buddha, but not necessarily a must-return spot."

"Wat Machimmaram is absolutely stunning — the giant Buddha has such a powerful presence that you can spot it from far away. Standing up close, the sheer size makes you stop and stare in awe. But then… I noticed something funny: only the lips are painted gold! I couldn’t help but think, ‘Why just there?!’ Maybe there’s a deeper meaning, but for me, that little mystery was the most memorable part. Definitely worth a visit for both the photos and the quirky details."
