Saw few giving bad comments on staff friendliness, food quality, I believe these ppl are rude and over demand."

"Stayed for a night here. Honestly, nothing much to highlight about the accommodation itself — it was really just the view of Mount Kinabalu that stood out (though, to be fair, many other places in the area also offer that view).

Check-in was fine. If the receptionist isn’t around, you’ll need to call the number on the counter card, or wait until a passing staff member to inform the receptionist of your presence.

The room was reasonably clean, but in my opinion, not worth the price compared to other nearby options. The toilet looks better than the room itself. To make matters worse, there was a power outage from about 11 pm until 4 am. Luckily, it rained throughout the night, otherwise the room would have been unbearably stuffy. Oddly enough, the spotlight outside our room was still working during the outage 🤔.

Breakfast was included, but quite disappointing. Understandably, ingredients may be harder to source in this area, but the spread was so uninspiring that I didn’t even feel like taking photos.

Service was another letdown. The three staff on duty at the canteen (two ladies, one gentleman) were unfriendly, almost as if we were inconveniencing them. An elderly lady even wrongly accused me of not handing over my breakfast voucher, despite the fact I’d been eating for over 30 minutes by then. Thankfully, her colleague corrected her, but the interaction left a sour taste. The food itself wasn’t appetising, though I still ate a little out of my “Asian mindset” — wanting to at least get some value for what I paid.

Overall, while I do plan to return to Kundasang in the future, this accommodation won’t be on my list again.

Side note: If you’re driving a rental car, please take extra care on the way here. The road conditions are terrible, with multiple metal rods sticking out — a real risk for puncturing your tyres."

"Stayed here with family on March 2025, when my brother in law came to visit.

The road leading to the lodging is quite bumpy and goes far into the interior, so do expect a bit of a rough drive. Getting a clear view of Mount Kinabalu is entirely up to luck the weather plays a big role. If it rained the day before, the chances of seeing the mountain are low due to mist or clouds.

The farmstay is located in Bundutuhan, which is slightly farther from the actual base of Mount Kinabalu. The surrounding area is spacious and green, but can get muddy during rainy days. There are basic cooking and BBQ facilities available outdoor. No kitchen available indoor or in the room.

The room itself is nothing fancy, but comfortable enough for a simple overnight stay. This place is quite popular on Xiao Hong Shu, so it can get crowded during peak seasons. There’s also an on-site restaurant with a simple menu, the food was okay, but nothing memorable.

Room rates are budget friendly, and they also offer camping options around the area. The staff were polite but not particularly proactive or helpful, don’t expect much assistance, and it's quite hard to locate them at the reception if you need anything. One thing to note is you’ll need to remove your shoes before entering the main building. If your room is on the upper floor, you’ll be walking barefoot or in socks upstairs.

Overall, it was just an okay experience not bad, but nothing memorable either."
