What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Canada Hill is praised for its accessibility and stunning city views, especially at sunset, making it a convenient spot for light hikes and photography. However, visitors note that trail signage is lacking and facilities are basic, with some wishing for more challenging trails and diverse scenery.
"Great hiking spot for beginners and weekend nature lovers
I’ve been to Canada Hill a few times, usually in the morning on weekends, and it’s a great place for a light hike without needing to travel far as it is right next to the city, which makes it super convenient. The trails I’ve taken so far range from easy to moderate, making it ideal for beginners and families with young kids. Also suitable for hikers santai.
The best part of the hike is the beautiful side view of Miri city, especially when the weather is clear. There’s also plenty of greenery and nature around, although it’s not exactly quiet due to its proximity to town.
That said, signage is lacking as there are no proper signboards, so it’s easy to get turned around or end up looping the same route. A few basic rest spots exist (usually just plastic chairs under trees), and while there are toilets and stalls nearby, don’t expect much. I’d love to see some improvement in terms of trail markings and facilities.
Overall, I give it 5 stars because of its accessibility and convenience, but I do wish there were more diverse scenery and slightly tougher trails for those of us who hike regularly. Still, a solid option if you want a quick nature fix without leaving the city!
Any hiking groups out there left with a spot, do reach me as I am just starting to berjinak with hiking. Lambir maybe?"

"Visited the place after completing Niah Caves. We came here to visit the oil museum but it was not opened. We totally forgot that it was a Sunday haha.
Besides seeing the historical structure that symbolizes the first oil well in Miri, the symbol is also located at the top of a hill that overlooks the city of Miri. It is a pretty good spot to take photos.
This is a good spot to catch the sunset, we chilled here until the sun set and it was totally worth it. There were a lot of space that you can lay a mat and sit down but no public seats are available. It can get a little sunny as there are not much shelters to shield you from the sun while waiting for the sunset.
I think this place can be hiked up (we drove) as we saw many locals doing that.

While facilities are basic, there's a stall selling local snacks and refreshing coconut water, perfect for a post-hike treat. Bringing a mat for a picnic is also a great idea.
