What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Melaka Tropical Fruit Farm offers a unique blend of exotic fruit tasting and animal encounters, with potential for relaxation and events. However, visitors have noted that the farm's maintenance and animal welfare could be improved, and fruit availability is seasonal. Despite these drawbacks, many find the experience enjoyable, especially for families and fruit enthusiasts, with some considering it worth the entry fee.
"Really great. It was empty and we ended up with a private tour. We tried quite a few fruits and Melaka juice. We also fed a number of animals. It was enjoyable but aparantly we went off season so there were only a few fruits to try rather than a huge number to try. However they do not bring their prices down for this. But it was a lovely day"

"The potential of the attraction is there. However, Melaka government need to rejuvenate that place and do a proper and major maintenance.
We came on Saturday with hope we can get a tram ride or my daughter can ride a poney/horse. Unfortunately both not available. We just wonder, 2019 is year of visit Melaka but they seems took the opportunity for granted.
Hopefully it can be improved further to attract more people."
Lateefa Chasez Selamat
"They have ostrich, deer, cow horse and many more. But at night things got little scary because it was too quiet. I mean reaaallllyyy quiet. One more thing, please check your bedsheet or blanket. Last time there was a centipede under my bed sheet."

Exploring the Fruit Varieties
However, it's important to manage expectations regarding fruit availability. Some reviews indicate that visiting during the off-season might mean a limited selection of fruits to try. This underscores the importance of checking the farm's seasonal calendar before your visit to ensure you experience the full bounty of their tropical offerings. The potential for a 'durian buffet' is also a draw for many, though this is often tied to specific tour packages.
Beyond tasting, the farm provides an educational experience about tropical agriculture. It's a great opportunity to discover fruits you might not find elsewhere, making it a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in nature's edible wonders. The farm's commitment to showcasing these fruits is a key part of its appeal, offering a truly unique gastronomic adventure.
Animal Encounters and Welfare Concerns
However, some visitor feedback points to concerns regarding the condition of certain animals and their enclosures. Reviews have mentioned seeing skinny Javan deer and a horse without water, raising questions about animal welfare standards. While the farm has the potential to be a vibrant animal attraction, these observations suggest a need for improved care and maintenance to ensure the well-being of the animals.
Despite these concerns, the opportunity to feed and see these animals is still a draw for many. It's advisable for visitors to approach these interactions with an awareness of the potential welfare issues and to report any immediate concerns to the farm management. The farm's management has the opportunity to significantly enhance its appeal by addressing these animal welfare points.
Farm Maintenance and Visitor Experience
However, several reviews indicate that the farm's infrastructure and general maintenance could be significantly improved. Visitors have expressed disappointment with the lack of available amenities like tram rides or pony rides on certain days, suggesting a need for better upkeep and operational consistency. The quietness at night, while calming for some, can be perceived as eerie by others.
Despite these criticisms, the entry fee is considered reasonable by some, especially if opting for a tour package that includes a durian buffet. The farm's potential is evident, but a concerted effort towards rejuvenation and consistent maintenance would greatly enhance the overall visitor experience and attract more tourists.
