"Mabul island water so clear . Hope the related parties please well maintain this island 🙏. Few resort in this island . Entrance fee to pay to visit Mabul Water Bungalows Resort ."

"This is the one very nice, small coral island. However the residents not care about the wild and sea life by dumping so many garbage. It would be nice place for scuba diving and relaxing if they can keep it together. You can see plastic bag floating with the fishes in the reef and all buildings materials in shallow water by the houses."

"The island is very beautiful. The entrance fee to this island is rm50 for each person. There are many nice spots for posing 😁 before you enjoy snorkelling or walking on the beach. Also has public toilets and bathrooms for changing clothes if you are not staying in this island resort. The water is so clean and clear. You may find children of bajau laut rowing a boat for selling coconut water. We did buy at rm5 for each coconut just to support them. Also give them our packed food. You may book resorts on this Mabul island, but we didn't stay in the resort because our main purpose is snorkelling around island of Semporna. We stayed at one of the hotel in semporna town. We took a speed boat which is about 45 minutes from the jetty."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
Consider resorts that offer calm waters and easy access to the beach or house reefs. While the islands are beautiful, be mindful of the sun's intensity and ensure children are well-protected. 💍 Couples & Honeymooners
Many resorts offer special honeymoon packages that include romantic decorations, candlelit dinners, and personalized services. Enjoying sunset cocktails on your private deck or a leisurely stroll along the beach are perfect ways to connect.

Diving and Snorkeling Paradise
For those seeking the ultimate diving experience, the proximity to Sipadan Island is a major draw. Accommodation: Overwater Dreams
Beyond the high-end resorts, Mabul also offers more budget-friendly options, including locally run guesthouses and chalets, particularly in the southern part of the island. These provide a more authentic experience and a chance to interact with the local community. While the 'posh' resorts are in the north, the southern part offers a glimpse into the lives of the sea nomads.
When choosing accommodation, consider your priorities: luxury and diving access (resorts near Sipadan) or a more local and budget-conscious experience. Many packages include meals and boat transfers, simplifying your travel plans.
Environmental Concerns and Community
The Bajau Laut, or 'Sea Nomads', are an integral part of Mabul's identity. Many live in stilt villages and make a living from fishing and tourism. Visitors are encouraged to support them by purchasing local goods like coconut water or handmade crafts. Engaging respectfully with the community offers a deeper understanding of their unique way of life.
Responsible tourism is key. Choosing eco-conscious resorts, minimizing your waste, and participating in any local conservation efforts can help preserve the natural beauty of Mabul and Kapalai for future generations.
