What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Eagle Square is a highly recommended, iconic landmark in Langkawi, praised for its impressive eagle statue and beautiful waterfront views, especially during sunset and at night when illuminated. Visitors appreciate the free entry, ample parking, and proximity to shops and dining. Some suggest avoiding midday due to heat.
"Eagle Square is one of Langkawi’s most iconic landmarks, and definitely a must-visit if you’re exploring the island. The massive eagle statue—about 12 meters tall—overlooking the waterfront is not only impressive but also symbolic, as Langkawi itself is named after the reddish-brown eagle (“Helang” in Malay).
The square is beautifully designed with wide open spaces, tiled walkways, and fountains, making it a relaxing place to stroll around, especially in the evening. The views from here are fantastic—you get a clear view of the sea, boats coming into the harbor, and the surrounding islands. It’s also one of the best spots for photography, particularly at sunrise or sunset when the lighting is perfect.
There’s no entrance fee, which makes it even better. The area is kept clean and well-maintained, and there are benches if you just want to sit and enjoy the breeze. Nearby, you’ll find shops, cafes, and duty-free outlets, so it’s convenient to combine your visit with some dining or shopping.
It can get hot during midday, so I’d recommend visiting early morning or late afternoon. Overall, Eagle Square is a must-see in Langkawi—both for its cultural significance and the beautiful atmosphere."
