Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Lao Zi Temple for its unique, colorful architecture and interactive spiritual elements like the dragon walk and wish-granting bell. The friendly caretaker enhances the experience with cultural insights. While some areas could benefit from better maintenance, the overall atmosphere is considered magical and culturally enriching.

"Kuantan's Laozi Temple, formally known as the Kuantan Taoist Association Laozi Temple, is a prominent spiritual sanctuary in Pahang, Malaysia. Beyond its role as a sacred heart for the local Chinese community, it is a living vessel for Taoist culture and the timeless teachings of Laozi. Its distinctive architecture is not merely a landmark on Kuantan's landscape but a tranquil haven where followers can find inner peace and engage in cultural enrichment. Within its serene grounds, the temple's pond offers a surprising sight: the rare pig-nosed turtle, a living testament to the Taoist ideal of natural harmony. Complementing this spiritual retreat is a sprawling durian orchard, which is also home to the unique red banana—a fruit whispered to be sweeter than its common counterpart, with a delicate hint of mango."

"Located in a quiet place in the northwest of Kuantan city.

The only Laozi temple in Malaysia.

The whole temple is full of magical colors and looks! It's like entering another world. The elements are also mixed. From the biographies of celebrities in history to the various gods in the legendary myths, they are all very vividly displayed in 3D. The most eye-catching, important and largest element is the "dragon".

Tickets start at 5RM for an adult. The ticket seller will remind you "don't forget to ring the bell".

The big bell is not far from Taishang Laojun. It is just a short walk from the side road. Remember to ring it three times. See the picture for specific explanation.

I entered from the "Dragon Tail" entrance next to the old ticket office. It took a long walk, but the process felt a bit like circumambulating the mountain. As I walked, I gradually lost my thoughts... I walked to the dragon head and came out of the dragon's mouth... It was very interesting.

Parking is free. You can drive up directly and park not far from the statue of Laozi.
