"Ho Ann Kiong Temple was built in 1801 by the early Chinese community (mainly Fujianese) who immigrated to Terengganu. It is one of the oldest Chinese temples in Terengganu and an important religious center for the Chinese community.
The temple has undergone many restorations, the most recent large-scale restoration was in 2010, due to a fire in 2008 that damaged some buildings.
On the birthday of Mazu (March 23 of the lunar calendar), the temple will hold a grand sacrifice and parade ceremony. During festivals such as the Zhongyuan Festival, Guanyin Festival, and Chinese New Year, the temple will also hold prayers and celebrations.
