What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Johor Zoo is praised for its affordability and interactive animal experiences, making it a great value for families. While it's a compact, older-style zoo, visitors appreciate its cleanliness and the opportunity to get up close with certain animals. Some note that accessibility could be improved and parking can be challenging.
"Went there on the weekend. I parked my car on the roadside and walked there. Not much parking was available, and it was full.
When I arrived, I waited for around 5 minutes in the queue. The ticket price is RM10 per adult.
The place is clean, well-maintained, and since it's renovated, there is no rubbish on the floors. The atmosphere is okay, but if it's a sunny day, you better skip the noon hour, or you better bring an umbrella.
A variety of animals could be found here, like a tiger, monkey, lion, birds, a goat, a deer, and more.
For the price tag and since it's local, I recommend it.
So, overall, I considered and rate it 4/5 Stars, for now."

"We visited Zoo Johor on a weekday afternoon after Dhuhur prayer and this is our second time here. Overall, it remains a pleasant place for families, though it would be wonderful if the zoo could improve accessibility to make it more stroller and wheelchair-friendly. Young children especially love zoos, and smoother paths would make the experience much easier for parents.
On this trip, we noticed the camel enclosure was empty, with the nearby area under renovation. Still, it’s a nice spot to spend time with the kids. Next time, we’ll plan to come in the morning to avoid the scorching heat."

"Johor Zoo is a neat and compact city zoo. It left a good impression as the animals appeared to be well cared for. I think the zoo is especially well designed for families with young children. Today there were some construction works going on, which likely means they are expanding or improving the facilities. You can easily spend a couple of enjoyable hours here, and there were also educational programs taking place during our visit."
