Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere and the unique concept of BookXcess housed in a bank vault. The location is praised for its convenience and proximity to other Ipoh attractions. However, some reviews mention issues with accommodation services, including check-in difficulties and noise disturbances, suggesting a disparity between the exhibition space and associated lodging.
"The place is nice and nostalgic. However, when i do a booking on booking.com, i do message the property about my late night check in which is estimated 1030pm - 11pm. And their ask to contact by their whatsapp number. And they replied me ‘ok’. And on the day that I should check in, their call me around 9:14am and ask my check in time. After i said my check in time will be late night, the staff scolded me and said why no said earlier? I told him that i already inform in booking.com and whatsapp. Suddenly his voice turns down and ask me to whatsapp again due to many guest text. And he did send me a text to give instructions for how to do self check in.
I from KL, and me and my friend start a ride to ipoh around 8pm and this guys text me ‘ kat mana? ‘ and text me again ‘ kat mana’ ? . Like seriously? You already give me instructions to self check in. So why bother?
The scary things is, when I arrive front plan B and take out our luggage got one bald guy standing at myvi car while smoking and whistling plus looking at us from the back. Suddenly that guys call my name in creepy way. When my friend ask him ‘ are you from the hotel ‘ ? And he said yes and show us the way to get the access card and how to get to our room.
Tomorrow morning after we want to check out and pass the key to him. He ask me ‘ you have 10 ringgit ?’. Then i ask him why? For what? He said ‘ oh for waiting you guys last night ‘ and my friend said in the apps doesn’t mention it. That guy answer ‘ ohh yeke, because late night check in ‘
However, the place is good eventho scray. I don’t like the way that guy treat us. Scary and creepy.
1.5/5."

"I love everything about this place. The rooms are bigger and my favourite are the huge windows which let in all the bright and cheery natural light. My bed was very comfortable and the entire are was very clean. However, I was surprised by the fact that I need 3 key cards to gain access to my room each time. The gastro bar located on the rooftop is a pretty cool place (separate review later). But the most precious amenity about this place has got to be the location. I can walk everywhere from my hotel (At least to all the popular murals, cafes, bars and restaurants nearby)."

"Would not recommend.
It took a 30 min wait to check in as nobody was on the desk even though we arrived at 3pm (check in time) and called the number given twice. when we asked why there was nobody on the front desk when our bags were in clear sight to the public. he replied with ‘NO’. On the way to our room we saw the ‘pool’ which is a pond. once we reached our room, we were greeted with 2 mattresses on the floor. The room is not clean with lots of cobwebs and bugs. The shared bathroom is outside."
