What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about The Habitat Penang Hill's stunning natural beauty and immersive rainforest experience, highlighting the breathtaking views from the canopy walks and tree top views. The well-maintained trails and peaceful atmosphere are frequently praised, making it a worthwhile escape. However, some find the funicular train to reach the hill to be excessively crowded and time-consuming.
"The Habitat on Penang Hill is absolutely worth the price of admission. The trails offer a pleasant hike surrounded by nature, and the treetop walk provides spectacular views and photo opportunities. Along the way, there are plenty of insects, birds, and other wildlife to observe. The highlight for me was the Langur Way Canopy Walk—breathtaking and beautifully designed. Everything was very well maintained and clean. For those not comfortable with heights, there’s an alternate trail that allows you to bypass the canopy walk."

"A beautiful place in the heart of the forest. Far from the crowds. Very pleasant and relaxing. It's a shame that some tourists talk loudly, it spoils the peace of this place. We bought tickets for the 5:30 p.m. tour, a little more expensive but allows us to do the night tour at 7:45 p.m. with fantastic guides who showed us the beauties of nature and what is hidden there. Without them, we would not have seen all of this. I recommend going there at the end of the day."

"Our visit to the Habitat and evening walk inside it, was on 27June2025.
I have mixed reviews for my experience, but generally dissapointed and short of my expectations. Our experience at The Habitat was both wonderful (for the exploration & views) & horrific (dark, unsafe, unguarded during the evening)
🤑💸 For Rm60 for entrance + rm18 for evening walk (per pax), this place is poorly managed in terms of customers safety & expectations. That explains why there were very few visitors entering here at that hour.(I am unsure for the other times of the day of other days)
👻 Evening around 7.45pm, for about 10 mins walk out to the exit, with no one else in sight, just darkness (a few small little lights on the side walk), the jungle and its sounds, it was scary & spooky. Only saw more lights when we reahed the Langur way canopy walk.
👎 Some areas were badly maintained & lighting was really bad. Probably they want to ensure the area is kept wild and dark for the animals' natural habitat, that is understandable.
😰 However, there should have staff at checkpoints along the way to ensure visitors' safety & assurance that they are on the right path.
👽 When we finally arrive at the entrance, the staff hut (ticketing place) was dark, empty & we saw the huge gate was closed! Suddenly a tall dark man appeared & we though he was another visitor or a guard who will tell us that we are at the wrong place for exit! To our relief, he was indeed a staff or a person guarding the gat& he opened the gate for us.
🤩 Alhamdulillah, we made it out safely. I was a bit shake.
At this point, I would not recommend paying extra for the evening walk, unless there is a good crowd of visitors and proper guide along the way by the staff on duty."
