What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Kea Garden is praised for its unbeatable location, placing visitors right next to Kea Farm Market and The Sheep Sanctuary, with convenient food options on-site. However, some guests have expressed disappointment with the condition of the rooms, citing issues with cleanliness and maintenance, suggesting it's more suited for backpackers or those prioritizing location over comfort.
"When traveling to Cameron Highlands, choosing a budget-friendly hotel with a strategic location is important, especially since parking near major attractions is often limited. As our main purpose this trip was to see the alpacas, we opted for Kea Garden Guesthouse, conveniently located right next to the Sheep Sanctuary. The area is lively with plenty of food stalls and a bustling farm market, making the location a big advantage. However, the room itself was just average."

"We decided to stay 1 night after changing plans from a day trip. Having stayed here sometime back, we came here expecting no less. Unfortunately the room was awful. Damp smell, yellowish looking bath towels, flat uneven pillows, bathroom was dim and mouldy in some parts and there was a cockroach in the room! I wish we remembered to take pics to justify the above.. What a waste to witness the deteriorating standards of what was supposed to be a decent accommodation. Urge never again!"

The condition of the bedroom was very unsatisfactory to me. One of the most disappointing aspects was the state of the mattress cover, pillows, and comforters – all appeared very worn out and looked like they hadn’t been replaced in a long time. The comforter also didn’t match the queen-size bed, and I had to pay an additional RM10 just to get another one. The bed was low to the ground, and the lighting in the room was dim with no bright lights, making it hard to find anything.
The toilet was not cleaned before my arrival. Used toothbrush and soap from the previous guest were still there and not thrown away. Although check-in was not allowed earlier, the room was in an unacceptable condition. The floor was seriously dirty and sticky. I had to wear the provided slippers all the time. Even after flushing, soap residue remained. I requested a call at 3 PM for check-in confirmation, but no one called me back. I had to call myself to check if I could enter. The worst part was the service – while the phone was answered quickly, the service itself was poor.
The parking area is steep with sharp corners, making it difficult to drive in and out. At night, it was very dark. I would not recommend this place for a family trip. It might be okay for backpackers.
My room was very close to Kea Farm market. I had requested a non-smoking and more private room, but this was not provided. One of the reasons for the cleanliness issue is that cockroaches were seen moving around – likely because the door was not properly sealed, allowing them to enter. Since the area is open to the public, it was very noisy, and the windows were not secure and easily opened. Definitely not recommended for families. While the surroundings are nice for taking pictures, the facilities are lacking and disappointing."
