Embrace the Wild: Essential Prep for Andasibe

Book guided tours in advance, especially for night walks, as they are crucial for spotting elusive wildlife like mouse lemurs. Wear comfortable shoes for exploring the trails and bring insect repellent. Consider the rainy season for lush scenery but be prepared for muddy paths.

Timing is Key for Lemur Encounters

Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best chances to see lemurs active. While the reserve is open year-round, the dry season (April to October) generally provides easier trail conditions. Plan your visit to coincide with peak lemur activity for a more rewarding experience.

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the incredible opportunity to see diverse lemur species in their natural habitat, with guides often praised for their expertise and ability to spot wildlife. The unique calls of the Indri and the magic of night walks are frequently highlighted as unforgettable experiences. Some find the park fees and mandatory guide costs add up, and trail conditions can be challenging after rain.

"Amazing to see indri and sifaka lemurs in the wild
A fantastic guide took us on a 4km walk, spotting and hearing indri lemurs, then seeing sifaka, brown and bamboo lemurs. We were as close as we were in the 'rehabilitation' parks. Also good to see some of the flora, insects and amphibians.
We also visited the community run VOIMMA reserve for a night walk where we saw mouse lemurs, chameleons and geckos
For both you need a guide"

"Really great secondary forest, where you'll see many types of plants and animals. It is worth to a have a good guide (we had Patrice, and he was marvelous), so he can explain a lot of what you'll see, and spot it for you."

דרור לביא-אפרת

"It is worth visiting this reserve. The entrance fee is 45k Ar and additionally a guide fee, the amount of which depends on the chosen route. We managed to see 4 species of lemurs. My advice: before choosing a guide, make sure that he speaks English clearly enough."
