"What a wonderful discovery. We went to the firecracker factory expecting to see some old buildings.
But we were fully immersed in the history and legacy by Guide Leonna.
Leonna introduced the intricacies of making firecrackers… how the 3-pillar of: firecrackers-matchsticks - joss sticks were the backbone of early Macau industry.
Though the buildings are bare now, Leonna spoke life into them through her stories and neatly weave the lives of the workers into the network of structures.
Thank you Ms. Leonna, we truly enjoyed your narrative of the Firecracker Factory.

"One of Macau's newest attractions is the Iec Long Firecracker Factory grounds (free entry) east of Taipa Village. This is where Macau's best preserved 20th-century firecracker factory (1925-84) is found. Closed to the public for the past 38 years, the factory and grounds have recently been partly restored, repurposed as an outdoor museum and attraction which aims to highlight and inform visitors of the important historic industry of firecracker production in Macau.

The Iec Long Firecracker Factory grounds are open from 6am to 7pm daily and there is a 400 metre long wooden deck which winds by old dilapidated buildings. Along the path there are information panels describing the various production stages and purpose of the various buildings and structures you will see.

Along the path you will also find an exhibition hall open from 10am to 7pm. This is where you find various displays revealing more about the factory, its history and other interesting facts related to the firecracker production industry in early 20th-century Macau.Exhibitions are informative, colourful and interesting.

There is a small gift shop is found just beside the exhibition hall and plenty of bench seats throughout the old factory grounds. Allow yourself 20-30 minutes to walk through the Iec Long Firecracker Factory grounds and exhibition hall leisurely."

"Went on Sunday morning around 8am. Place was quiet waiting to be discovered. A bunch of old buildings in various sausages of dilapidation stands on premise. Large Banyan trees provide much needed shade. It's part of the Macanese heritage, producing firecrackers on Taipa island back when you had to take a sampan from Macau."
