What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Macau Military Museum to be a small, specialized exhibition offering a focused look at Macau's security forces, with a notable collection of firearms and historical gear. While admission is free and the staff are friendly, the limited scope and primarily Chinese-language information mean it's best suited for those with a specific interest in the subject. :star2:
"This is a small, ground floor exhibition space with around 10 displays, featuring historic Macau Police and Security Forces gear, equipment and memorabilia. The museum is open 9-5.45pm (Monday-Friday) and 9-5pm (weekends and public holidays).
Here you can see uniforms, police station equipment, arms, two cannons, motorbikes. We liked seeing the historic pictures, showing the barracks here and Ave. Praia Grande back when it was a coastal road just before the sea during the early 20th century. All can be conveniently viewed in 10-20 minutes.
Overall, this is a highly specialised museum that is probably better suited to locals who have relatives in the police and security forces. There isn't much to see here that will likely be that interesting for most visitors to Macau. As such, we'd suggest concentrating your time and effort elsewhere and on more interesting and important attractions.
Tip: If you enjoy this type of specialty museum, there is a similar The Fire Services Museum Estrada de Coelho do Amaral."

"4.5 stars. A large pink Portuguese-style building complex next to the Grand Lisboa and Lisboa hotels. Cross the road, go up the sloping road to the top, and you'll see the Grand Lisboa hotel when you turn back. There's a guard post outside, and no clear signage indicating it's a museum.
Upon entering, register your ID/passport at the counter, followed by security screening. Your belongings will be X-rayed.
The staff are very polite and friendly.
The museum is small but spacious, and not crowded. It displays uniforms, firearms, communication equipment, and vehicles of Macau's disciplined forces, some of which are interactive. The information is mainly in Chinese. Souvenirs are available for purchase.
A complete tour takes approximately 15-30 minutes, depending on individual interest."
