What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Former Portuguese Post Office to be a charming and architecturally significant building, especially appreciated for its extensive stamp collection. While some have experienced issues with postal service delivery, the building itself is consistently praised for its historic ambiance and as a key stop on heritage tours.
"The Macau Post Office is honestly one of those places you don’t expect to have an opinion about… until you go, and then you’re like, “Oh, this is actually kinda nice.” The main building has that classic, slightly old-school charm—very Macau vibes with a mix of Portuguese architecture and local atmosphere."

"This historic General Post Office Building first began operations in 1932 and is still a functional post office today. The philatelic store inside has the widest range of not just Macau (from Dec 1999 onwards) and Hong Kong stamps but also stamps from Portugal, Cape Verde and other Portuguese speaking countries. This must be heaven for a philatelist collector - the lady staff member was very friendly and serviced my philatelic want list efficiently.
Stamps are sold at face value or at a small amount above face value for foreign stamps . Change your HKD to patacas as the official rate is 1 HKD to 1.03 MOP - but you only get a 1:1 rate if you pay in HKD directly
The GPO is closed on weekends"
