Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Fort Thüngen for its free admission, engaging museum that details Luxembourg's military history, and excellent photo opportunities from its rooftop terrace. Some minor points of contention include potentially confusing access rules for restrooms and the steepness of certain walking paths.

"My favourite place in Luxembourg. With exhibition indoor and nice arrangements outdoor make Fort Thungen an ideal point of interest for both history and photography enthusiasts."

"Free entry for this fantastic reconstructed fort and museum. The museum does a great job telling the overall military history of Luxembourg. I think it does a much better job than the museum in the city.
I took a bus here then walked down. On the way, Google tells you to go through a path which cuts through the woods which isn’t the most accessible."

Ivan Cheung

"No complaints about the fort itself, free admission & plenty of Luxembourg history, there is also a roof terrace you can walk on too. Bit of a short steep hike to get here from the Pfaffenthal lift as we did, unless maybe you get the tram to the Philharmonie / Mudam tram stop & walk from there. The receptionist is authoritarian seemingly just for the sake of it however which sullies the experience. For example, you MUST get a ticket from her even if you aren’t bothering with the museum, if perhaps you only want to access the toilet for instance, because ‘toilets are for guests & guests need tickets’ but when you then ask for the ticket, they don’t actually issue physical tickets because ‘guests don’t need one’ ?! I would question why you need tickets at all if it’s free entry with no ID requirements tbh: they were hardly busy to the point of capacity, on the contrary, when we visited, it was relatively quiet."
