Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the Museum of the History of Lithuanian Medicine and Pharmacy for its fascinating and educational exhibits, particularly its collection of authentic historical medical and pharmacy artifacts. The affordable entry fee and the friendly, informative staff are frequently highlighted as major positives, contributing to a highly engaging and worthwhile experience. Some visitors note the presence of human remains as a sensitive aspect, but generally find the presentation to be educational.
"A relatively small, but very interesting museum, in an old building that perfectly adds to the atmosphere of the exhibition.
Here you can see old medical and dental instruments and tools, as well as pharmacology equipment, from the ancient times of Lithuania up until the 20th century.
However, be aware that some human remains (like skulls) are also presented among the exhibits. I think this is necessary in a scientific museum of this kind, but I'm writing it just in case some people are sensitive or may find it offensive, for whatever reason.
The staff was very friendly, they guided me through the various rooms, and explained what to expect to see in each one of them. Each room is equipped with a catalogue of exhibits, available in various languages.
The ticket price at the moment of writing (July 2024) is €2.00, which I think is great value for money. Be aware, though, that one can pay only in cash.
There is also a short brochure available both in Lithuanian and English, for free. It's sad, though, that there is no museum catalogue/ book available. That's something I'd liked to see in a future visit :)"
