Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Latvian National Museum of Art for its stunning architecture, a harmonious blend of historical grandeur and modern design. The diverse art collections, particularly the unique expressions of Latvian artists, leave a strong impression. The rooftop terrace offers breathtaking city views, and the innovative glass-walled art storage provides a fascinating behind-the-scenes look.

"The Latvian National Museum of Art is truly impressive.
The architecture alone is stunning – from the beautifully restored main building to the rooftop with its striking white-painted wooden beams, all the way down to the modern exhibition spaces in the basement, which even include a glass-walled storage area showcasing another 4,000 paintings.

The museum offers changing exhibitions with Latvian artists.
Honestly, I hadn’t heard much about them before, but the main exhibition features some really great paintings that left a strong impression.
It’s definitely worth checking ahead what the current temporary exhibition is, as they add even more variety to the visit.

If you’re interested in art and find yourself in Riga, this museum is absolutely worth a visit."

"My wife and I stopped by here on the weekend to see this great national museum. I suggest paying for the full ticket (all exhibits) to see some other pieces of art from other countries. Overall, I thought it was a great visit. It is well laid out and very spacious. You never feel like you are in a rush to see a piece and never a crowd around to make it hard to see everything. I really enjoyed seeing some of the unique Latvian art and the expression shown after occupation. There are several styles and types of art - something for everyone. Another unique part of the museum is the "open" storage area for art not on display. Patrons can see how they are stored and glimpses of pieces to be displayed at some other time. A great visit - give yourself around 1.5 hours (depending on your interests of course). Thanks."

It hosts different exhibitions every season, with hundreds of exhibits specially preserved and exhibited from time to time. For this reason, it is recommended to visit every season. Visiting the museum's permanent exhibition is free on the last Sunday of every month."
