"Absolutely loved my visit to the Laos Textile Museum in Vientiane!

It’s a beautiful private museum, owned by what seems to be one of the respected families in Laos. One of the staff became my personal guide, and the experience was amazing, so detailed and educational.

I learned about silk production, traditional dyeing methods, fabric techniques, and the evolution and history of Lao textiles.

Toward the end, I was invited to their mini workshop where I could see the dyeing process up close. I even got to taste a small orange-colored mango sweet, a little sour, and incredibly fresh. They also served me butterfly pea tea which was surprisingly delicious.

The whole experience felt authentic and rich in culture.

Entrance was only 30,000 kip (~$1.50), and it was absolutely worth it. One of the best cultural stops in Vientiane!

I would love to come back one day!"

"Recommend visiting the Lao Textile Museum. Located further out from Vientiane, it is an interesting museum that covers how Laotian people fabricate clothing and extract clothes dyes. The demonstration on how they made dyes was interesting and interactive. Very quiet with few visitors, this museum is relaxing and informative. The shop offers opportunities to buy locally made items and tastes the butterfly pea tea that changes colour when you add lemon juice. Staff are very friendly and passionate about their craft."

"This is a must-visit spot in Vientiane! The entrance fee is only 30,000 Kip, and it offers a fascinating insight into the traditional silk-making process—from extracting the silk thread to creating the final product. I especially enjoyed seeing how different designs are made, which was truly impressive.

Although I visited on Labor Day and missed the demonstrations of silk spinning and dyeing, the experience was still very enjoyable. To top it all off, they served butterfly pea tea at the end, which was a lovely touch.

Highly recommended for anyone interested in Lao culture and craftsmanship!"
