What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Ban Na Village for its spectacular scenery, tranquil rural atmosphere, and the opportunity to experience authentic Khmu culture. The trek to the village is often described as a lovely, albeit sometimes challenging, adventure. While the village is small, the friendly locals and beautiful landscapes make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path experience.
"A round trip walk out to Ban Na along the dirt track & back across the rice paddies took me 4 hours. I did the walk on my own without a guide but be warned there are no directional signs, I used Google maps on satellite image but I did do my research first & if it wasn’t for ‘The adventures of Jellie’ who gave coordinates for the exit to one of the rice paddies, I would never have found it as it was truly hidden in a corner. The rice paddies are a labyrinth, I got stuck in one for ages, try to stick to the edge of the field as much as possible. There were 4 rivers to cross & it was rainy season so this slowed me down as I had walking boots on & had to take them off each time. It was however a lovely walk, the scenery was spectacular & the villagers friendly."

"The way from Muang Ngoi is nice. Beware of the difficulties during the rainy season: we took an alternative way to arrive there.
The town is a small place where the most rural and quite life in Laos can be found.
There is a cave in the way where you can have a bath to cool up yourself!"

"Took my dirt bike up there. Some fun creek crossings at the start. Doesn’t take long to reach the village. Very small and friendly. They were selling scarves and linens for reasonable prices.
On the way out I accidentally ran over a baby chicken that ran in front of the bike. I gave a man standing there some money who gave it to the home owner. He seemed happy, I felt bad though. My vow the rest of the trip is to not kill any more chickens, ducks, dogs, cats, cows, buffalo, pigs, or snakes on the roads."
