What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking, epic views of Lenin Peak and the unique experience of staying in yurts. The challenging journey and remote location are part of its allure. However, some find it a bit crowded during peak season, and logistics can be complex if not planned well.
"Incredible! It's not easy to go. It's very difficult to get a visa first, but it's definitely worth it"
Puffin “Puff Puff” Young
"There are basically, few options to climb there, when it comes to logistics..... you can carry your tents and food to each Camps. Or you can opt for still sleeping in your own tent but buy the board (3 meals or each separately) which means less food and gas to carry. Or, what we have chosen, to get the full package: sleep in jurts at Base Camp and in private tents at Camp 1 - those tents have hard wooden deck with a small terrace, are tall and spacious. Else be aware that Camp 1 is 100% sharp glaciers rocks and gravel, not nice for tent... nor comfort..."

"Beautiful place, however bit crowded."

The Journey to Base Camp
The drive offers increasingly dramatic mountain scenery, building anticipation for your arrival. It's a good idea to book your transport in advance, especially during the peak climbing season from June to September, to avoid any last-minute issues. The experience of the journey is part of the overall adventure, showcasing the remote beauty of Kyrgyzstan.
Accommodation and Logistics at Achik Tash
Meal services are also a key consideration. You can choose a full board package, which includes three meals a day prepared by local cooks, or select individual meals. This significantly reduces the amount of food and gas you need to carry, making your expedition lighter. The decision on logistics often depends on whether you are simply visiting the base camp or planning to ascend the peak.
Photography Opportunities
Beyond the grand vistas, the cultural aspect of the base camp, with its yurt settlements and the daily life of climbers and support staff, offers compelling subjects. Early mornings and late afternoons are particularly magical for photography, as the low-angled sun casts long shadows and bathes the peaks in warm, golden light. Remember to pack appropriate gear, including wide-angle lenses for landscapes and telephoto lenses for capturing details of the mountain. Extra batteries are essential, as the cold can significantly reduce their lifespan. :camerawithflash:
