What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the stunning panoramic views of Beppu city and the iconic 'yukemuri' (hot spring steam), especially during sunset. The short hike is considered worthwhile for the unique atmosphere. However, some find the steepness of the path tiring, and the infrequent bus service can be inconvenient.
"It's a 10 min hike off the bus stop. The busses are scheduled not so frequently so be sure you time yourself for the nest bus usually 30 mins after.
View was great even at riany days. Unfortunate it was not so fantastic as during a clear day. Still it was worth the climb and visit"

"Located halfway up the hill, this viewpoint requires a short hike of about 10–15 minutes, but it’s definitely worth it. I visited around sunset, and the view overlooking the town was beautiful—especially with the soft light and drifting smoke that gave the whole scene a peaceful, almost mystical atmosphere. It’s a great spot if you enjoy quiet views and don’t mind a bit of uphill walking. I’m giving it four stars mainly because the path up can be a bit tiring, but overall it’s a lovely place to stop by."

"The view from Yukemuri Observation Deck is stunning. You can see the stream rising up from the onsens of Beppu, and the hills and mountains beyond the city rise up like walls that touch the clouds.
There are no bins but plenty of benches on the ground to take a break or observe the view. Then there is an elevated platform to see the view without the fence. Though be aware that the elevated platform has steps and no ramp or lift.
I would definitely recommend visiting the Yukemuri Observation Deck if you want stunning views of Beppu. Though if you're walking, be aware that it's quite a hike on a steep road."
