"Good place to see open air modern arts from all over the world. The place is a bit far from Kagoshima city but not so far from the airport. You can enjoy the drive too. The entrance fee for outdoor museum only is very chap. There is also a lovely cafe restaurant."

"As of February 2024, there are 23 large art installments in the Kirishima Open Air Museum. It was a fun two hours or so trying to find all the art pieces. Especially trying to look for the eight black dogs. (Was only able to find up to 5.) There are also other installments without numbers that are interesting as well and are shown on the map.
Most of the artwork seems to have been placed in 1999 or 2000, so they are over 20 years old…with that being said, they are being kept nice and clean. The newest piece was placed in 2012, so we could be expecting more pieces to be added in the future."
