What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests consistently praise the InterContinental Yokohama Grand for its stunning bay views, elegant architecture, and spacious, clean rooms. The hotel's prime location in Minato Mirai offers convenient access to attractions, and the spa is a highlight for many. However, some find the hotel's interior design a bit dated, and the surrounding area can be quiet in the evenings with early closing times for shops and restaurants.
"Best location on a gentrified area with everything you can think about nearby - till the evening, then it becomes a ghost town. Everything closes early, including every restaurant and bar in the hotel, as well as nearby combinis. The hotel itself is very nice and elegant with several restaurants. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well stacked. However, everything closes in the early evening. If you're an early bird, this would be the place to stay. A little problem with climate control with the room being too warm even at the lowest temperature setting."

"Gorgeous hotel with easy access to Minato Mirai Hall, Queen’s Square, And Landmark Plaza. The bridge access is via the second floor where the reception is. The staff are all so nice and can show you directions. Had such a lovely and pleasant experience with Julie Lee at reception. She explained the directions clearly (turn left and follow the signs)! See the photos for exact directions."

The Iconic Architecture
This architectural marvel contributes significantly to the hotel's appeal, offering a visually impressive experience from both the exterior and interior perspectives. The way it interacts with the surrounding bay and skyline is a key element that photographers and travelers alike appreciate. Whether viewed from across the water or from a high-floor room, the building's form is a constant reminder of its unique identity.
While the exterior is a showstopper, the interior design, though elegant, has been noted by some as potentially feeling a bit dated. However, the overall impression remains one of sophistication and luxury, with the architecture serving as a constant, impressive backdrop to the guest experience.
Room Views and Comfort
Comfort is a key aspect, with mentions of high-quality bedding, such as Airweave, contributing to a good night's sleep. The rooms are generally described as clean and well-equipped, ensuring a pleasant stay. However, a recurring point of feedback is regarding the climate control, with some guests finding the rooms to be consistently too warm, even when set to the lowest temperature.
Despite the minor climate control issue, the overall room experience is highly positive, with guests appreciating the thoughtful details and the luxurious feel. The combination of ample space, cleanliness, and those captivating bay views makes the rooms a significant highlight of staying at this hotel.
Location and Local Access
While the hotel itself and its immediate surroundings are elegant, it's important to note that the Minato Mirai area can become quiet in the evenings. Many local shops, restaurants, and even convenience stores close relatively early, transforming the district into a 'ghost town' after dark. This means that if you're looking for late-night dining or entertainment, you might need to plan ahead or venture further afield.
Despite the early closing times of some establishments, the hotel's location is still highly advantageous for daytime activities and enjoying the waterfront. The easy access to public transport also facilitates exploration of other parts of Yokohama. The hotel's bridge access is particularly highlighted as a helpful feature for navigating the area.
