Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the outstanding 360-degree views from the observation deck, stretching to distant islands and even Sakhalin on clear days. The informative local history museum on the lower floors, featuring mapping, archaeology, and historical photos, is also highly praised. However, photography can be tricky due to window glare and tinting, and it's essential to verify winter operating hours as the museum may be closed.

"Outstanding!! 360-degree views of Wakkanai town, Port and all the way to Cape Soya, and to the Islands of Rishiri and Rebun. We could even catch a glimpse of Sakhalin Island to our north. The windows were pretty clean, so I'm happy with our photos. On the first floor is a fascinating local museum with a visual history of the mapping of Hokkaido, lots of archaeological artefacts from the area, and fascinating historical photos of the town. Of course, it's best if you can have perfect weather, but in general, there is a lot here of interest."

"The views are great! When it's clear you can see a long, long way. There's a fair amount of glare and window tinting, so photos are very tricky to get right. There's some nice natural history exhibits on the ground floor, too."

Eric Janson

"A wonderful place to view the city of Wakkanai and the surrounding countryside and all the way to the mountain in the horizon from the observation deck. Plus the historical museum on the first 2 floors. The tower can be accessed by road or a walking path from the city."
