Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning natural beauty of Towada-Hachimantai National Park, particularly the vibrant autumn foliage around Lake Towada and Oirase Gorge. The scenic hikes and the unique experience of the Hakkoda Ropeway and Nyuto Onsenkyo are frequently praised. However, some note that restrooms can be hard to find, and certain hiking paths might be close to roads, impacting the sense of wilderness on busy weekends.

"Nice place to go, the lake is so huge. Be noted that restroom are not so easy to find depending your location. Road closures till around April/May, please check the website before you go."

Hudson Huang (NonoS54)

"Lived in Aomori before and recently visited to do this hike again! It's a nice trail, not too challenging (there are stairs though) and there isn't many people. There is also an onsen nearby. Beware of bears as there is a sign at the beginning to proceed with caution. Perhaps bringing a bear bell is playing it safe. Otherwise, nice little hike!"

Vinny F

"Stunning lake - unfortunately some of the hikes are next to the road and if you go on a weekend it’s like hiking next to Highway…. The lake is really worth it especially if you go around it"
