What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Swallowtail Butler Cafe offers a highly immersive and elegant experience, with guests praising the exceptional butler service and delicious food. While reservations are essential and phone use is restricted, the unique 'ojou-sama' treatment makes it a memorable outing, especially for solo travelers and fans of themed cafes. Some minor issues with menu clarity and tea steeping were noted, but overall satisfaction remains very high.
"Being a big fan of shojo manga and otome games I have always wanted to go to swallowtail butler cafe and I managed to get a reservation, which can be quite difficult.
I thought it might be a bit awkward going alone, but they have tables specifically for 1 person and it seems to be popular to eat solo here. It is larger inside than I expected and it was very busy, the butlers were working very hard.
You are treated like a princess the moment you walk in, being called ojou-sama and having your bag carried for you by your butler. Everything is done by the butlers, such as pouring tea and water. You get a little bell on the table to ring if you need your butlers attention, but my butler was so attentive I didn't need to use it.
I had afternoon tea, which was only around £25 (which is half the price of most afternoon tea places in the UK, and Swallowtail has a lot better service). The food is really nice and you get quite a lot of different things to try.
I have very limited Japanese but my butler spoke very good English so I feel that you don't need fluent Japanese to enjoy yourself. The dinnerware is high quality and the butler chose a tea cup for me and he explained what the flowers are. The butlers are all different ages and they are all very handsome with really cute uniforms.
You can't take photos or use your phone. I recommend bringing a book to read while you wait if you are alone."

"Enjoyed every moment there. Yes you will feel abit awkward at first but they will try and settle you down.
We rang the bell twice. For the 2nd time no one came but I suppose they are busy and didn't notice. After all, there is no number indication which table rang it so I think it is forgivable and not deliberate.
The butler who took care of us did well, very lively and tried his best to speak in English.
Very good food as well, well worth the price. Around 13000yen for 2 persons and I actually wouldn't mind paying even 10000yen/pax for everything (food, service, ambience etc), because all is really good.
👍🏻👍🏻"

"I loved everything about it! The food was AMAZING!
The tea was hard to drink though. I ordered some earl grey tea. For black tea you only want the tea leaves to steep for 5minutes otherwise it gets REALLY bitter. The teapot is served with no tea bag to remove so if you don’t drink it quickly then it will be very bitter.
The screen at the entrance had a misspelling 🤭
It’s says “please wait for ently” but it should be “entry”
In the bathroom they have a garbage can for menstrual items but I thought it was funny because the container they used was a toilet paper roll holder 😂
The English menu had a mistake too. For the afternoon tea you are suppose to select 2 scones and two dipping sauce. But the scone section failed to mention you need to select two.
A lot of the butlers Ties were crooked which was funny to me 🤭
I only wrote these things so they can be aware via a review its not ment to be cruel 🙇🏻♀️
Overall I thought it was gorgeous and very elegant. They will wait on you for everything. They serve your food, pour your tea and even escort you too and from the bathroom 😆 I loved it! Really awesome experience ❤️❤️❤️"
