What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Arashiyama is celebrated for its breathtaking natural beauty, particularly the iconic Bamboo Grove and the panoramic views from the Observation Deck. Visitors love the serene atmosphere, the picturesque landscapes, and the magical evening light-up events. However, the overwhelming crowds, especially in the Bamboo Forest, can detract from the experience for some.
"For me, it’s truly a hidden gem — a peaceful escape surrounded by nature. The walkway is beautifully designed, winding through lush greenery and tall trees that create a calming, almost magical atmosphere. The moist land adds to the natural charm, giving the forest a rich, earthy scent after rain. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the beauty of nature all around."

"The Arashiyama Observation Deck in Takasu, Hokkaido, offers a serene and picturesque vantage point over the city and surrounding landscapes. Situated at an elevation of approximately 250 meters on Mount Arashiyama, this two-story observatory provides panoramic views of Asahikawa, including the meandering Ishikari River and the rural surroundings. The observation deck is especially popular at night, offering a romantic atmosphere with city lights and starry skies. It's also a favored spot for viewing fireworks displays and other local events. The area is accessible via a 500-meter paved walkway from the parking lot, making it suitable for visitors of all ages. Please note that during winter months, snow removal is not performed, so visitors should exercise caution"

"It's a bit difficult to get there in the winter because the solid path is really narrow (and stepping off this path means you sink into a deep layer of snow). The view at the observatory is gorgeous. Would probably be an amazing autumn hike, but it probably wouldn't recommend coming here in the winter unless you have snow shoes."
