Reviews Summary

Visitors often praise the Amaterasu Railway for its unique open-air experience, stunning canyon views, and the friendly service from the train drivers. The illuminated tunnels and the thrill of crossing Japan's highest bridge are frequently highlighted as memorable aspects. However, some find the ¥2,000 price point for a 30-minute ride to be a bit steep, and the trains can get very crowded, potentially impacting the viewing experience. The commentary is also exclusively in Japanese.

"Pretty good views and friendly service by the train drivers. The residents will also wave at you when you pass by. The trains are fully packed. Obviously a very popular attraction here. Pretty funny when the driver started dual wielding the bubble guns lol"

Robin

"I wouldn’t recommend this place to waste your money……
It will be good to visit to take pictures with railroad if you want because there is no control so foreigners and even Japanese do whatever they want to take pictures. So be ready to mess up everything 😇

It costs ¥2000yen/person for 30min round trips which is ripped off for what you paid.
For all the trips, I will say it was boring, nothing special.
We had to sit together with lots of people and it’s faced to inside so we had to move our body to see the views which is nonsense.
Also, they played with a light in the tunnels but they used same one everytime in tunnels even no music so you would get bored.

They explain the places while you trip, but ONLY JAPANESE so don’t expect translation.

Overall, it’s much better to go Takachiho kyou and spend your time in there."

Ami Fujita

"It is a cute train with no sunshade.
So please prepared your sunscreens and cap because open the umbrella is prohibited.

And also it has a pretty good view with spectacular mountainous views.

If you curious about here, just come here to experience!"
